Cultivating Germany Career Competencies

Workshop Description

There are two main types of intercultural trainings: general and specific. This is a country-specific intercultural training–the focus is on Germany.

Traditionally, most courses and trainings focus either on country studies (e.g. history and politics of Germany) or on intercultural training (e.g. iceberg model, understanding stereotypes). Based on my years of experience working with international students in Germany, including teaching intercultural courses to incoming exchange students, I developed my own approach that prepares students for working in Germany–the 3C Germany Model©. In Cultivating Germany Career Competencies, I integrate Germany country studies with trusted intercultural training standards, and I bring in practice examples and activities based on the real life experiences of international students and migrants in Germany. Together, this 3C Germany Model© sets the foundation for the course as a whole, as well as each individual lesson.
